Ingredients

A PDO
For 4 personnes
  • To make these Halloween poached pears, you will need:
  • 4 pears
  • 3 tbsp. of wildflower honey
  • 1 tablespoon of ground cinnamon
  • 2 tablespoons of mild-flavoured olive oil
  • Water
  • Black piping pen for decorating

Tip

Spooky spiced poached pears for Halloween! To complete your Halloween atmosphere, why not also make some ‘spider’ biscuits and Halloween brownies with nuts… A terrifying (but delicious…) afternoon treat awaits!

Instructions

  • Make a syrup in a saucepan large enough to hold the 4 pears. Pour in about 50cl of water, the honey, cinnamon and olive oil. Bring to the boil, then reduce the heat and simmer until the liquid has reduced to a syrup (allow a good twenty minutes).
  • Peel the pears without removing the stalk or the cores: the pear must remain whole, without its skin. Place them in the syrup, turning them regularly: the pear should be melt-in-the-mouth.
  • Decorate your pears using a black piping pen. Those with a sweet tooth can add a little syrup when serving.

We recommend...

For this recipe, choose a PDO huile d'olive de Nyons (subtle taste) for its notes of dried fruit and buttery flavour, possibly accompanied by hints of fresh hazelnuts and/or freshly cut grass.

Don’t have any? Then choose a PDO huile d'olive de Nice!
