Ingredients

A PDO
For 6 personnes
  • To make this orange, chocolate and olive oil cake, you will need:
  • 150 g dark baking chocolate
  • 1 orange (untreated)
  • 2 eggs
  • 160 g of sugar
  • 1 yoghurt
  • 200 g of flour
  • ½ sachet of baking powder
  • 10 cl of traditional-style olive oil (PDO Vallée des Baux-de-Provence, PDO Aix-en-Provence, PDO Provence, ...)
  • Icing sugar (for decoration)
  • Candied orange peel (for decoration)

Tip

To make this orange, chocolate and olive oil cake, choose an ‘old-fashioned’ olive oil from PDO Vallée des Baux-de-Provence, PDO Aix-en-Provence, from PDO Provence, or an oil made from ripened olives – traditional style. Traditional-style olive oils offer notes of cocoa, mushrooms, vanilla and candied fruit, and are completely free of bitterness. They pair perfectly with chocolate desserts. Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 180°C.
  • Melt the chocolate in a bain-marie.
  • Zest the orange, then cut the zest into thin strips. Squeeze the juice from the orange.
  • Beat the eggs and sugar together, then add half the orange juice, followed by the yoghurt.
  • Gradually stir in the flour and baking powder.
  • Add the olive oil, followed by the melted chocolate and the orange zest.
  • Grease a round cake tin (or a square tin or loaf tin). Pour the mixture into the tin. Bake in the oven for about 30 minutes. Check that it is cooked by inserting a toothpick: it should come out clean.
  • Dust with icing sugar and decorate with candied orange peel and sugar stars. Let your creativity run wild when decorating this cake!
